Degrees and Certifications:
I began my career at Vandercook Lake Schools as a student teacher at McDevitt Elem. over 20 years ago. Although VCL was not my first choice as an assignment, I have come to realize how being placed here was a true blessing. The students, staff, and community have become like family to me and I can't imagine spending my teaching career anywhere else!
As a student myself, I received an Associate in Arts degree from Jackson Community College and completed my undergraduate degree in Elem. Education at Eastern Michigan University. I also earned my Masters degree in Students with Exceptional Needs from EMU. This degree included classes in adolescent girl issues, the educational affects of poverty on children, special education theories for general ed. teachers, and the unique needs of gifted/talented students. These classes have been incredibly beneficial to me while working with your children over the years.
For the last 15 years, I have enjoyed teaching 3rd. grade. It is my goal, here at Townsend, to ensure that each of our students feel accepted and appreciated for being the truly amazing individuals they are and to help them strive to become the best citizens of the VCL community they can be.
