Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Karen, Barrett
Hello! My name is Karen Kidder-Barrett. I am married to Steve Barrett and have two grown step-children (Mike and Laura) and one daughter, Tricia. I LOVE to read, bike, attend church (Salem United Church of Christ in Albion), take photos, travel, and watch movies. I also love to act and SING! Animals are also an important part of my life. I have four dogs (Goldren Retriever, Marley, Fox Terrier, Little Girl, Poodle/Chihuahua, Toodles, and Shitzu/Yorkie, Pumpkin Pie. I have six cats (Calgary, Molly, Kit, Kat, Skippy John Jones, and Purrincess Kitten Caboodle) and one Herman Tortoise (Snickers).
I have four college degrees - an Associates of the Arts from Jackson Community College, a Bachelors of the Arts in Education from Spring Arbor College with minors in music, history, and early childhood, a Masters of the Arts in Curriculum and Development from Eastern Michigan University, and a Masters in Science in Educational Leadership from Concordia University.
Speaking of acting and singing, I am often in local productions through Center Stage Jackson. Many of you may also have seen me perform with my band, Alibi, in which I've been singing for almost 29 years! We perform mostly in the summer at outdoor events such as the Cascades fireworks shows (Memorial weekend Saturday) the Disney nights there on a Wednesday in August, or at Greenwood Acres Campgrounds.
I want to thank all of you for allowing me to be a part of your children's lives. Of all the blessings God has put in my life, working with children is the greatest!
