Attention Seniors:
Dear Seniors and Families,
We have redesigned the Commencement scheduled for June 4th to take advantage of the latest EO that increased the outdoor gathering size to 100. At their allotted time, parents will accompany their graduates into the building to record their message and then rejoin the rest of their family outside the building at the main entryway where the graduate’s name will be announced. The graduate will receive their diploma presented by a board member in front of their family. This allows all family members the chance to be present when their graduate’s diploma is presented.
After receiving their diploma the family and graduate will make their way over to another area for photos. After photos, we are asking that the family proceed to exit the campus in order to keep the gathering size within the EO.
All speeches will be filmed in the gymnasium and JTV will still film the ceremony to be aired at a later time.
The LiveStream will be set-up outside to capture the graduates receiving their diplomas.
We look forward to seeing you on Thursday

Please share out June 4th Commencement LiveStream link:

Mental Health Tip of the Day: Students, if you find yourself out of sorts during quarantine... try making a schedule. Making a list or schedule of things to accomplish for the next day will turn on more of the dopaminergic reward circuitry built into your central nervous system. In other words... every time you check something off the list, the more accomplished you will feel, which will lead to feeling content and satisfied. The trick to making a schedule is...it's not a prison! Create the day you want to have. When creating a schedule its essential to have goals in mind. Start small and build up.
If you want to make a schedule and don't know where to start, don't hesitate to contact Mr.Mann, he would love to help you specify your goals and make a schedule!

Vandercook Lake Public School Community:
On Wednesday, January 8th, school administrators were informed of a possible threat to the middle/high school. This report came to the administration after school had dismissed for the day. The administration immediately notified the Jackson County Sheriff’s office and started to conduct an investigation into the matter.
Through a collaborative investigation, the identity of the student responsible for making the statement has been verified. The district has been notified by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department that the student who made the original statement has been detained as a precautionary measure as the investigation continues.
With the student currently under the direct supervision of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, it has been determined that the Vandercook Lake Public Schools will be open tomorrow, Thursday, January 8th, 2020. Parents and students may notice an additional police presence at the start of school. The additional police presence was requested by the school district.
I want to assure our community that we take these types of threats seriously and that the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority.

A great story to share. A parent whose child enlisted in the Navy was hoping to have banners hung on McDevitt Ave. to honor her son and five other 2019 graduates that are now in the Navy serving our country. When the utility poles on McDevitt were deemed as not an option she asked the schools if she could hang the banners at our school. The banners were hung yesterday through the generous assistance of Johnson Sign (Mr. Jim Johnson) and Mr. Kevin Hull. We hope this will serve as a reminder of all the Jayhawks who are currently serving our country in the different braches of the military. #JayhawkStrong #BelieveAchieveSOAR
