Vandercook Lake Community,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our Vandercook Lake Public Schools bus drivers, Ken Jackson. Ken was a valued member of our Jayhawk family who dedicated his time to safely transporting and caring for our students. His kindness, commitment, and presence will be deeply missed by our students, staff, and families.

A local memorial honoring Ken is being planned for this fall. We will share those details with our community once the family has finalized the plans. Please keep Ken’s family, friends, and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.

Once a Jayhawk, always a Jayhawk.

Did someone say birthday cake?! Yes! Every student at Townsend Elementary will receive a birthday box on their special day thanks to Tammy and her wonderful donors! 🎂🎉❤️🎈

Our Seniors got together this morning as a class for their last 1st day of school to see the sunrise, paint the rock, and enjoy donuts and camaraderie.

We can't thank our local Lions Club enough! From the Ice Cream Social on Sunday, then cooking breakfast for the entire Vandy school district staff on Monday, to grilling hotdogs for the Community Block Party on Tuesday - this is an amazing group of volunteers! If you want a rewarding way to give back to our community- join the Lions Club! They meet the 2nd and 4th Wed of each month at 6pm at the fire barn in Vandy.

Fantastic turn-outs for both Open Houses and the Block Party! Thank you to all of our vendors and to the Lions Club for grilling and Danny at Frosty Boy for the free ice cream. We love our community! We can't wait for our students to return to school tomorrow and to cheer on our fall sports teams and marching band! #MightyJayhawks!

We can't wait to see all our students today for Open House and Block Party! Don't forget, the Jayhawk Exchanges will be open as well- all free!

Come check it out and see what Jayhawk ESports is all about! Whether you're a seasoned gamer or just looking to try something new, we want YOU on the team!

NOTICE: All offices will be closed Monday, Aug. 24th from 8am-2pm for district-wide training. Additionally, Townsend will be closed on Tuesday, Aug. 25th from 11:30-12:30 for training.
