6th grade ELA read “All Summer in a Day”, by Ray Bradbury. Today we took pictures to show the mood/setting of the story we read. The weather played right into the setting of the short story. Ask your student to tell you more.

Homecoming week is upon us! Let’s kick it into our major school spirit this week by participating in spirit week:
Monday is career day: students dress up what they want to be when they grow up.
Tuesday is Country vs. Country Club Day. students can Wear your favorite western gear or dress up in your favorite country club prepster clothes.
Wednesday is Favorite Sports day: Students can support their favorite teams this day.
Thursday is Arcade Day: Students can wear their favorite pac man, mario, or whatever their favorite arcade game is.
Friday is our favorite spirit day: Red and white day! Support our Jayhawks and show your school spirit.
The homecoming parade begins at 5:30
The homecoming football game is at 7:00pm and tickets can be purchased on ticketspicket or find the link on our Vandy website.
Our first PTO meeting is this Tuesday at 3:45. We will have light snacks and childcare will be provided. We will be in the shade outside on the Townsend track. Hope to see you there :)

SOPHOMORES WANTED!!! Homecoming is Sept. 24th! The 10th grade class would like to put a float together to represent their class in the parade. The class advisor is looking for a place to build the float, a trailer and someone to pull the float....also, STUDENTS to make memories and build it! There is a class Facebook page called VCL Class of 2024 you can join for updates and to reach out to the advisor. If you have questions, please call the front office.
7th and 8th Grade Students interested in joining Robotics please come to our first meeting Tuesday, September 21st after school from 2:50-4:00 in Mr.Simmons' classroom, room 8.
If you are interested but cannot attend please let Mr. Simmons know ahead of time.
