Dear Townsend Elementary Families,
Due to power outages in the area, Townsend Elementary is currently without power. We have been informed that power is not expected to be restored within the several hours. As a result, Townsend Elementary will dismiss all students early today at 11:00 a.m.
Before dismissal, all students will be provided with a sack lunch to take home.
Dismissal Procedures:
• Bus riders: Buses will begin picking up students at 11:00 a.m. and will follow their normal routes.
• Car riders: Please use the normal car-rider line and dismissal process beginning at 11:00 a.m.
• Parents picking up a student who does not normally ride home by car: Please also use the car-rider line rather than coming into the office.
Please plan accordingly for your child to arrive home earlier than usual today, particularly if your child rides the bus.
Townsend's phones are also currently down due to the power outage. In the event of an emergency only, please call the Central Office at 517-782-9044, and we will relay your message to Townsend staff.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we respond to circumstances outside of the district’s control. Our priority is ensuring that students are dismissed safely and efficiently.

The Envirothon team took learning outside with a kayaking trip on Vandercook Lake! Students collected aquatic life, learned to spot native vs. invasive species, and helped protect local ecosystems by logging invasive species on the MISIN app. They capped off the day by testing water quality and enjoying time on the lake. Vandy's College and Career Access Center rep, Arlene, talked to the 9th, 10th, and 11th graders today about their future and all the opportunities that they have available to help them achieve it- like scholarships, financial aide, training programs, career center, internships, TIP, and free community college! Ask your teenager- What do you want to do after high school? And let Arlene help your teen make a plan to achieve their goal. #MyFuture
