For Dental Hygiene Month, 2nd graders are reading "Doctor De Soto" by William Steig this week. It's a delightful story about a mouse dentist who decides to help a sneaky fox with a tooth ache. After reading, we sequenced pictures of the story and practiced retelling the story.


2nd graders in science this week are learning about the properties of matter. We focused on how different kinds materials of clothing help for different reasons. Their challenge was to make a hat that would protect them from the sun if they were stuck on a desert island.

Just received word that the Cheer team took first place in the first conference meet of the year.

Jayhawks have a 46 -33 lead after 3 qtrs in their match with Grass Lake.

Vandercook Lake Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, February 16th due to inclement weather. The Nest Daycare at Townsend Elementary will also be closed.

Happy Valentine’s Day from Mrs. Sweeney’s First Graders! After reading the story “The Day it Rained Hearts”, these busy learners wrote complements to their classmates. They then created beautiful watercolor drawings of the setting and main character. Zoom in to feel their love!
