Vandercook Lake Public School Community: On Wednesday, January 8th, school administrators were informed of a possible threat to the middle/high school.  This report came to the administration after school had dismissed for the day. The administration immediately notified the Jackson County Sheriff’s office and started to conduct an investigation into the matter.    Through a collaborative investigation, the identity of the student responsible for making the statement has been verified.  The district has been notified by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department that the student who made the original statement has been detained as a precautionary measure as the investigation continues.   With the student currently under the direct supervision of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, it has been determined that the Vandercook Lake Public Schools will be open tomorrow, Thursday, January 8th, 2020. Parents and students may notice an additional police presence at the start of school.  The additional police presence was requested by the school district. I want to assure our community that we take these types of threats seriously and that the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority.
