**ANNOUNCEMENT** Tonight's girls basketball game vs Leslie has been cancelled.

Winterfest week is almost here!! Here are the dress up days for the Middle School/High School for January 16th-19th.

Students and Parents:
It is the expectation of Vandercook Lake Schools that all students are prepared for class and on-time every hour. We’d like to congratulate the 40% of students (117 students) that have less than 5 tardies for the entire first semester. We have collected some data of the excessive tardies first semester:
43% of students have 10 or more tardies (127 students)
39% of students have 15 or more tardies (113 students)
22% of students have 30 or more tardies (63 students)
12% of students have 40 or more tardies (36 students)
9% of students have 50 or more tardies (25 students)
Excessive tardies of this magnitude is unacceptable. Beginning second semester, students that have 3 or more tardies per week will be on social probation for the following week. We will run a report Friday afternoon and let students know they will be on social probation the following week. Social probation will run week-to-week. Social probation means a student cannot attend any after-school activities (games, practices, dances, fitness center, etc).
Should you have any questions, please contact me at melissa.bradfield@vandyschools.org
Respectfully,
Melissa Bradfield, Principal

Merry Christmas from Miss Hilling's Kindergarten class! The students enjoyed celebrating the holiday this month by decorating a tree for the classroom, making Christmas cards and paper Christmas trees, playing Holiday math games, dressing up for Holiday spirit week, drinking hot chocolate and watching a movie, and opening gifts from teachers and classmates.

The MS/HS is hiring a paraprofessional to assist special education students. Find the full job description here: https://maisa.mistaff.com/job/?entry=59172.

Looking for something fun to do with your kids over the two week holiday break? Try Nite Lights at M.I.S., or AllSkate (in photo), or think critically at an escape room (Carnegie Library or epIQ Escapes), or enjoy the Comic Light Show at Ella Sharp Planetarium. Enjoy your break!

Third grade students in Mrs. Salenbien's class had a fun time at the Christmas Assembly today! They also enjoyed getting bells like the little boy in the Polar Express movie!

Congratulations to our students of the month for December. These students prove themselves in and out of the classroom to be leaders among their peers. Great Job everyone! High School: Austin Hartle & Secilia Combs Middle School: Marley Sample & Rick Miller
