We saved Fred!!!!! The students in Ms Simpson's 1st/2nd grade class had to come up with a plan, try it, reflect on that plan, and adjust it as necessary in order to "save Fred!". We worked in small groups to help Fred (a gummy worm), who was on a capsized boat (an upside down cup), reach a life preserver (circular gummy) to avoid drowning. We couldn't touch anything except our "rope" (4 paperclips). The kids loved it! We saved Fred, and then we ate him!!!! 🤣 Teamwork!

From Delinda
The students in Ms. Simpson's 1st/2nd grade class teamed up to play a math game. The "winner" was the student with the longest "run" of covered spaces. We used strategy, skill, social skills, and a smidge of healthy competition :)

The Board of Education and the Administration is launching a new initiative to guide Vandercook Lake Public Schools through a Three- to Five-Year Strategic Plan. The purpose of this initiative is to help develop new goals and strategies for continuing to offer an excellent education for our students, while using scarce public education resources in the most effective and efficient way. The strategic planning process is designed to produce approximately five goals to be accomplished over a three- to five-year period. The plan uses data—along with the feedback of staff, students and community members—to help create a shared vision for the future that will help make the district an even better place for our students.
