Townsend families: if you are dropping kids off at school and coming from Francis Street, go through Polly’s- all McDevitt is torn up due to construction!

Looking forward to our first day of the new school year. Remember that all 'in-person' students and bus rides MUST wear face masks. Please ensure that your student has their mask and a refillable water bottle. Carefully and safely...Let's get this school year started!

Kindergarten families: we know how difficult it may be sending your child into a room you haven’t seen. So here is some pics of our teachers’ classrooms! We will take great care of all our kids!

Afternoon latchkey has been cancelled for Wednesday (8/26), Thursday (8/27) and Friday (8/28) due to warm weather conditions. We will still have morning latchkey available on those days. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Jackson Free Methodist Church helped kick off our 20/21 school year with a special breakfast for our staff. A big thank you to helping welcome our staff back!

Jayhawk Nation: with warmer temps headed our way, a decision has been made to switch to half-days on Thursday and Friday. Release times for W/Th/F will be 11 am at the MS/HS and 12:05 pm at Townsend. Sack lunches will be provided to all 'in person' students.

Good Evening, Jayhawk families,
This is Jamie Stanley with some announcements.
First day of school is this Wednesday at 8:30am with dismissal at 12:05pm. Teachers will be contacting all virtual only students this week to give directions on their virtual learning. If your child is a hybrid and coming Tuesdays and Thursdays, then their first day will be on Thursday, Aug 27. Please turn in your free and reduced lunch form with your student to give to the teacher.
Parents: your child’s classroom teacher is working very hard to get everything ready, prepared, and safe. However, they also have families of their own they take care of. Please understand that any communication made to the teachers after normal school hours may not be returned until the next school day.
Latchkey: If you are signed up for morning latchkey (6:30am-8:30am), please drop your child off at the west exit. The procedure for latchkey will be: Please call 867-6261 and let the latchkey teacher know you are dropping off in the morning or picking up in the afternoon. They will come get your student outside for arrival or bring your student out to you for dismissal. Masks must be worn in latchkey by all students.
Arrival: Please stay in your vehicles to drop off your student. Again, parents will not be allowed in the building at this time. Students will be allowed in the building at 8:15am.
Dismissal: Please stay in your vehicles for pick up. K-2 students will exit out of the doors by the gym and 3-6 students will exit out of west wing doors if you have children in multiple grades advise them to dismiss out the exit their youngest sibling is assigned. There will be cones up to help the flow of students. Please be patient as the first few days will be hectic.
We will be doing a backward dismissal this year starting with 6th grade. Please be on time to pick up your child/ren as we want to make this as quick and smooth as possible.
We will also plan to provide breakfasts and lunches to our remote learners on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30-10:15am at the HS. If you are interested and have not already spoken to someone to sign up, please call the office and let the secretaries know.
Please remember that all students have to wear masks. We will be providing times for students to be able to take their masks off. We will be handing out masks for every student, a breakaway lanyard for students to hook onto their masks on the first day of school.
Finally, we have everything in place to help your child, but we are all learning how to navigate this new way of school. I ask that you please be patient and understanding with our new policies and procedures.
We are getting really excited about the new year!
As always, thank you for your support. Have a great week!
Go Jayhawks!

Attention bus riding families: bus stop times are currently being worked on. Please anticipate a call on Tuesday letting families know the approximate time their student can expect to be picked up in the morning. We appreciate your patience and understanding on the matter.

A great start to the 20-21 school year. Townsend"s Pre-K-1st grades held their outside 'Meet the Teacher' event. #BelieveAchieveSOAR!

Townsend: In your welcome back letter, it says that our school starts at 8:00 am. That is INCORRECT. Our school day begins at 8:30am this year. We apologize for the confusion.
